Located on the Brazilian Northwestern region, Jericoacoara is nearly 320 km far from Fortaleza if you travel to the Northwest, and 240 km far from the Parnaíba River Delta, in the neighboring State of Piauí, if you travel towards East, and it is also 350 km far from Lençóis Maranhenses.
The strong winds blowing from July to December in the region make it an ideal spot for nautical sports such as surfing, kite-surfing is the existence of windsurfing. Another remarkable characteristic of this region are the huge white sand dunes that are constantly moving.
In fact, the fishing village named Tatajuba once was located in another site which was completely covered by sand dunes, so it had to be rebuilt in its present site near Jericoacoara. |
